ARTICLE: Demi Lovato to sing National Anthem at Game 4 of 2012 World Series

“The X Factor” U.S. judge Demi Lovato is set to perform the U.S. National Anthem (“The Star-Spangled Banner”) at Game 4 of Major League Baseball’s World Series on October 28, 2012.

Fox (the U.S. network for “The X Factor” U.S.) also announced other performers who will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” during this year’s World Series, which Fox is televising in the United States. Fox is clearly making the most of showcasing the network’s talent to sing during the World Series.

If there is a Game 5 on October 29, 2012, then Grammy-winning legend Aretha Franklin (who is not a Fox network star but is a Detroit native) is scheduled to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Not surprisingly, “The X Factor” U.S. judge Britney Spears is not on the list of performers, since “The Star-Spangled Banner” is a difficult song to sing. Spears almost never sings live in her performances, and she might not even get the lip syncing right since she’s so ditsy that she might flub her lines when she lip syncs — and that’s too much a risk to take for a championship baseball game that’s on live TV. There’s plenty of Britney Spears concert footage that exists as proof of her bad lip syncing.

By contrast, all of the chosen performers listed above (including Lovato) who were selected for the honor of singing the National Anthem are known for singing live in their performances.
