Sitting in the tattooist’s chair has long been a rite of passage for young pop stars.
But unlike her peers Demi Lovato has admitted that she regrets her 12 tattoos – and may one day consider having them removed.
Speaking on Live With Kelly And Michael this morning she said of one of her inkings: ‘It was just a spur of the moment, stupid decision.’
The tattoo, of her friend’s lips, matches one her three best friends also have.
Demi said she had thought of having her dozen tattoos removed.
‘I’ve thought about it before because, you know, when I get older I don’t know if I want to have rock and roll on my middle finger.’
But she shrugged off her worries, adding: ‘I’m young and I can rock it now and when I get older I can worry about it later’.
Demi also addressed her ever-changing hair colour, saying she liked her new blonder look.
‘I think this is my favourite right now,’ she said. ‘Just because, you know, it’s the colour I have right now and I don’t feel like changing it.’
The 20-year-old also opened up about the event which led to her entering rehab.
‘I got into a situation in a different country when I actually ended up hitting one of my friends,’ she explained. ‘I was just going through something so dark and I was very very mentally sick.
‘So, you know, when I ended after leaving the tour my parents had planned an intervention.’
But Demi said finally getting her diagnosis with bipolar disorder was a relief.
She said: ‘I was like, “oh my gosh, that means I’m not really crazy, there’s a reason”.
‘And it was just so awesome to be able to pinpoint a diagnosis for the reasons why I was extremely happy and in, like, a euphoric state, and the next month I was in, like, a deep depression.
‘I had everything great in my life I had nothing to complain about but I wasn’t happy.’
Demi will next be seen on American Idol, where she will join Britney Spears on the judging panel.
‘She’s incredible,’ Demi said of her fellow judge.
And of Simon Cowell she added: ‘He’s really fun to work with too, we have a lot of fun together I definitely give it back to him. I don’t put up with it.’
And she was proved to be right, when viewers were shown a video of the two on the show.
‘If I had a dog I’d call it Demi,’ said Simon. She immediately retorted: ‘If I had a pig I’d call it Simon.’
