Earlier this week, a handful of blogs and David Archuleta fan sites began reporting the rumor that Demi Lovato would be hitting the road with Archuleta this summer. They’d been tipped off when Ticketmaster listed both singers on some of Archuleta’s tour dates.
On Wednesday (April 15), the rumors were confirmed: Archuleta will open for Lovato when her tour kicks off June 21 in Hartford, Connecticut. The 47-city trek will also have Nick Jonas’ rumored girlfriend Jordan Pruitt and girl group KSM on select dates. (The tour may just be called Summer Tour 2009, but if you’ve got a better idea, weigh in over at the MTV Buzzworthy blog.)
Lovato, who opened for the Jonas Brothers on their tour last summer, made the announcement on her Web site and MySpace page, and she also released a statement about the tour, saying, “I’m so excited about headlining my own tour. I love life on the road. I’m in a different city every night, and it never gets old.”
The pop star is hard at work on her sophomore album, due this summer. The LP is the follow-up to last year’s Don’t Forget. “It’s going to take a different sound, so hopefully it goes over well,” she said. “I sing a lot of rock, but this time I want to do more John Mayer-ish type of songs. Hopefully, I can write with people like him.”
After the tour ends August 24 in New Hampshire, the singer will be filming the sequel to “Camp Rock” in the fall.
